The estates of our nobles in the XVIII-early XX centuries were scattered throughout the vast Russian Empire and became not only their rural houses, places of family habitat, but also with comfortable foci of national education, the focus of high classical culture, and the housing of muses. Ostafyevo’s estate near Moscow, to whom the writer and culturalist Vladimir Novikov dedicated his fascinating book, is associated with the names of P. A. Vyazemsky, N. M. Karamzin, A. S. Pushkin. Particular attention is paid to the literary significance of Ostafyev. Many new ones are told by the author about the difficult fate of the estate, its three -century history.
