The book of poems by Alexander Tvardovsky, the famous Soviet Frontovik poet, included his most significant and well-known works: first of all, the outstanding poem Vasily Terkin is the narrative of heroism, courage and self-sacrifice, about human dignity in the conditions of war. Vasily Terkin is the image of a real Soviet soldier, devoted to his people and the Fatherland. The poem displays the harsh living conditions at the front, but the protagonist shows an example of the highest power of the spirit, which inspires others.
Alexander Twardowski managed to convey all the heroism of a simple Soviet soldier skillfully and expressively. The book also included the well -known poems “I was killed by Rzhev...”, “Tankman’s story”, “On the day when war ended” and other works. The poems of Alexander Tvardovsky and the poem “Vasily Terkin” became one of the main masterpieces of Soviet literature, encouraging to think about the meaning of the human fate and value of peaceful life.
