Vifania Metropolitan Plato. Editor-compiler: Klyuchikova A.V.
The book proposed to readers is dedicated to the greatest Russian saint of the 18th century - to the Metropolitan of the Moscow Plato (Levshin; 1737-1812). It is revealed by the biography of the permanent archpastor, published by the Holy Trinity Sergius Lavra in 1900. In the subsequent chapters written by a group of employees of the Sergiev-Posad State Historical and Art Museum-Reserve, one of the most interesting pages in the biography of the Moscow saint was examined in detail-the history of the creation of the Spaso-Vifan monastery. An extensive material is introduced into the scientific circulation, including a number of previously unknown archival documents, as well as the museum that have never been published - preserved vestments and utensils from the Bethane sacristy, works of art and objects of the Betan chambers of Metropolitan Plato. Many aspects of the history of the Bethany, especially the initial stage of the existence of the monastery, are first covered in this edition. The book completes the book about the restoration of the Spaso-Vifan monastery after many years of desolation. The book will undoubtedly be interesting to all admirers of the outstanding hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church, to everyone who is interested in church history and church art.
