Vladimir Korolenko and revolutionary troubles in Russia. 1917-1921

Change of at least ten authorities in the city and Ukraine, ulcers of red and white terror, anarchy and atrocities of green, a complete collapse of the economy, the onset of terrible hunger, meetings with prominent figures of the Bolsheviks, assistance to prisoners of war and children, everyday intercessual activity for the sake of saving people From the dungeons of the Cheka and the White counterintelligence, the prevention of pogroms - all this had to be experienced by an elderly writer, to whom fate gave the opportunity to become an eyewitness to the new Troubles and describe and evaluate it from the heights of Russian classical literature, leaving invaluable evidence for the present time. What did Korolenko survive on the slope of life? What is hiding the dramatic story of letters to Lunacharsky? What relationships associated Korolenko with Lenin and other leaders of the Bolsheviks? What predicted and foresaw Korolenko, being one foot in the grave? To answer these and other questions, the book includes two layers: the description of the Poltava Odyssey of the writer for five years and the analysis of his reflections on the most burning aspects of the history of revolutions of 1917 and the Civil War.
