Voluntary galleries. Essays on the processes of complacency. Sheveh Zh.
Some people seem voluntary slaves because of the obsessive repetition of the same action that does not allow them to think and dream. They themselves pronounced their sentence - to become voluntary galleys. The book of Gerard Shevek is devoted to the psychoanalytic understanding of cases of adults who demonstrate a compulsive attraction to a deadly obsessive repetition, as well as children whose mental functioning somewhat resembles the behavior of adult “galleys”. In his analysis, the author relies on the economic theory of Freud and the metapsychological concepts of the leading representatives of the Paris Institute of Psychosomatics, while developing his own vision of the problem, first of all, in relation to the role of barn techniques to reduce excitement associated with traumatic reality.
