“Vox Populi” (“The voice of the people” in Latin) is a novel about the “Russian Ukrainian”. In his fourth (after the trilogy about analytics) the work Andrei Melekhov continues the tradition of “big topics”. In this case, this is the topic of national self -determination of a Russian person living in Ukraine and having his own opinion about what is happening in the historical homeland.

The main characters of the novel are thinking and arguing a lot, and this is not sacred. After all, this has to be done in the context of events taking place in Ukraine, Russia and around them during the “orange” revolution of 2004.

“Vox Populi”, like the previous novels of Melekhov, has several original storylines. Although the reader will not meet mystical characters in this work, he will not be allowed to get bored and quite earthly heroes: spies and military, financiers and corrupt politicians, residents of Kyiv, Washington and Moscow.

In the last book of Melekhov, sometimes sound very sound Radical opinions about the political life of modern Ukraine and Russia. These opinions are quite capable of upsetting and offending those who believe in the “sovereign democracy” and the “elitism” of the elites of the two countries. But they will also be interested to trace the difficult, sometimes painful path of a Russian person trying to find his place in the post -imperial world of the former USSR, to choose between his two poles - the Putin Kremlin and the snowy Maidan of 2004.
