Where the stars spend the night. Sutkever A.
Avroma Sutkeever's prose (1913–2010) is only a small part of his creative heritage, but its importance is difficult to overestimate. Without it, as without his poems, it is impossible to imagine not only Jewish, but, without exaggeration, world literature of the twentieth century. The book “Where Stars Spin” is a collection of stories written at different times and united by one topic - meaninglessness, inhumanity and cruelty of war. Symbolic, saturated with metaphors and comparisons of the prose of Sutkeever is akin to poetry - its images are so deep. Sketches, short stories are fastened with each other, like links of one chain. Earlier, only the Green Aquarium and Messiah Diary were translated into Russian, the rest of the stories were translated for the first time.
