Korea, 1943. Khan is sixteen years old, she never left her native island of Chestju, was born and raised under the Japanese occupation. She is from the genus Hano, women of the sea, dives. Her younger sister can not wait for the day when she will become Hano. Two girls are happy in their small idyllic world on the ocean, but one day fate separates them, sending the khan to the foreign lands, preparing her grave trials.
