Mikhail Bulgakov wrote about the intelligentsia, which he knew and felt. The White Guard is an autobiographical novel and at the same time an exciting narrative about the fate of the intelligentsia in Russia after the revolution.

The literary heritage of Mikhail Bulgakov without losses survived the death of Soviet literature and today is read as a continuation of the Golden Fund of the Russian Classics of the 19th century.
