Jan Terlau (born in 1931) - a famous European politician and writer. Immediately after the release of the story “Winter during the War” in 1972, he received the Golden Feather Award - the main award of the Netherlands in the field of children's literature. His book, one of the most popular in his homeland, easily stands in a row with such classic works about military childhood as the “cloud regiment” of Eduard Verkin and “When I was little, we had war...” Stanislav Olefir. In 2008, the story was filmed by Martin Kulhoven. In Russia, the film was released under the name "Winter in wartime."
