Witches from Varboys: Chronicles of the trial
The book was written in hot pursuit of the trial process of 1593 over two women accused of witchcraft, and is designed to convince contemporaries of justice of the charges. This is a detailed report on the so -called “Barboy Witches' case”, starting with the first suspicions caused by the whim of a nine -year -old girl, and ending with execution through hanging. The details and accuracy of the description of the symptoms for many years turned this book into a textbook on imitation of obsession. This publication is equipped with an extensive commentary and afterword of the translator. The author offers the reader a detailed story about the prerequisites and consequences of “witch hunting”, about other significant processes of that time, about “noble” authors of the echo and his unfortunate victims.
