This publication compiled the last two large works of Vladimir Nabokov, written in Paris before leaving for America in 1940. Both had a decisive influence on the writer’s subsequent English -language work. The story “Wizard” (1939) is the first attempt by Nabokov to state the topic “Lolita”, the novel “Solus Rex” (1940) - approaching the plan of “Pale Fire”. Sorry about the incompleteness of Solus Rex, Nabokov noticed that "in his color, in style and abundance, in something uncertain in his powerful deep course, he promised to resolutely differ from all my Russian works." The application publishes an excerpt from the Solus Rex archival typewritten text, excluded from the Parisian journal publication.
