The special services of the country of Soviets at the stage of their formation on equal terms accepted into their ranks not only men, but also women. They fought on the fronts of a secret war, performing special tasks and secret instructions of the Soviet and Russian government.
The book tells about women who served in illegal intelligence and counterintelligence of the USSR. The secret service of most heroines began in the 1920s, during the formation of Soviet external and military intelligence. The fate of others were brutally crippled during the repressions of the 1930s. Some died in prisons of Western states or committed suicide. Few of the female reconnaissance survived to a very old age. They did not strive for high ranks, did not expect awards and material goods for their full risks and dangers. They honestly and conscientiously did their difficult work in the interests of the security of the Soviet state.
