Word for word. About the language and not only. Krongauz M.
The book proposed to the reader is an author's experiment. Each of its sections has its own justification and its own purpose. The first section included scientific articles on various linguistic topics: from the theory of reference to accentuation, from practical transcription to humor theory. The second section includes several popular science articles and “articles about everything”, including education, the national nature and reading of books to children. The third section consists of reviews in which the author not only reviews books, but also tries to formulate some important ideas related to them. The experiment is to combine these sections within the framework of one book: it is not clear how much the variety of tasks, styles and genres can attract, and not repel the reader. Although the author himself sees connections and even logic, and believes that diversity should be considered dignity, but always remembers that “we are not given to predict how our word will respond,” and therefore hopes for reader sympathy and - no less - for reader curiosity. The texts included in the book have been written for three with a few decades - since 1984.
