Writing History: from cuneiform to emoji. Konstantinov V.

In his new cognitive comic book “History and Writing: From Vishoping to Emodi”, Vitaly Konstantinov talks about how a person came up with signing with signs what he wanted to remember how different writing systems arose and how, for example, logographic , syllable, consonant letter and alphabet. His story unfolds in time and space: from the cuneiform and hieroglyphs to new letters of writing that appeared in the second half of the twentieth century in Africa and the alphabet of the Klinon language from the series Star Way.

Together with the author, we travel in Asia, Europe, America, Australia and Oceania - and everywhere we find different types of letters and its creators. Some glorified their name for centuries, as the Armenian scientist Mesrop Mashtots, who invented several alphabets at once, which are used to this day, and the works of other contemporaries did not appreciate. This happened, for example, in the XIX century with Naum Vekylhardzhi, who created the Vitkutsk alphabet for the Albanians, and with the Roman emperor Claudius in the 1st century BC. e. - He offered only three new letters that the Romans did not want to use at all.

This book gives a general idea of ​​the history of writing and how it can be arranged. Here, of course, it would be impossible to describe all the writing system created by mankind - scientists have almost 300 of them. Some of these systems are still not deciphered and are waiting for their discoverer! A journey around the world of signs turned out to be both informative and exciting, it will interest both the unprepared reader, and the one who is fond of linguistics or typographic.
