Olga Fedorovna Bergholz - the legendary Leningrad poet, almost nine hundred blocked days, she was a “voice of the city”: remaining in the besieged Leningrad, she turned to fellow citizens on the radio, and her words helped them maintain persistence of the spirit, hope. She was called the "Leningrad Madonna" and honored, according to Daniil Granin, "how they honor blessed, saints." However, Olga Bergholz is a poet of not only civil, but also huge lyrical power. Her personal story was tragic: she more than once lost her beloved, survived the death of children, war, the collapse of faith in revolutionary ideals. All this also found the embodiment in her verses.
