The basis of the novel by Alexander Alexandrovich Fadeev (1901-1956), the young guard fell on the genuine tragic story of an underground youth organization with the same name, operating in the city of Krasnodon during the Great Patriotic War. Ordinary young men and girls, being in the occupation zone, sacrificed everyone to help their country and their people win the war.

However, this work is not only about the partisan underground. The author managed to generally show the lives of Soviet people during the Great Patriotic War. This is a novel about the path to feat and a feat, about love for life and the ability to make friends, about where a person takes strength to win over evil.
