They manage to secretly conduct their activities until an annoying puncture takes place, which leads to a tragic finale.
Alexander Fadeev was deeply shocked by a real story, which he took as a basis for this novel about courage and persistence, duty and terrifying consequences of betrayal.
Komsomol members of the underground were brutally tortured by the Nazis and dropped into mines, from where their remains were extracted by Soviet soldiers and buried in March 1943
