The attention of readers is proposed to the first full -fledged biography of Prince Yuri Vladimirovich Dolgoruky (d. 1157). He went down in history not only as the founder of Moscow, but also as an outstanding politician and statesman of his time, the creator of the Principality of the State nucleus of the future Great Russia. The personality of the prince and his diverse activity - relations with other princes, war, church policy, the construction of cities, diplomatic contacts with Byzantium and the steppe - are traced by the author on the basis of a meticulous analysis of preserved sources.
