ZhZL. Gogol. 3rd edition. Voronsky A.K.
This unique book with a truly bizarre and dramatic fate went to readers for many years. The trial circulation of Gogol’s biography in the ZhZL series, signed in 1934, was banned, for the author of the biography, a bright writer and publicist Alexander Voronsky, underwent repression. Miraculously, several copies of this publication survived.
The book of A. Voronsky is designed for a wide range of readers. She recreates Gogol's living appearance as a man and writer. His artistic works are interested in the biographer primarily in the extent that they reflect the personality of the Creator. Gogol in Voronsky has, as it were, “double vision”, allowing him, on the one hand, with amazing acuteness to see the “materiality of the world”, and on the other, to see the spiritual growth of man.
