The textbook consists of four sections. Its content affects all aspects of modern ecology.

The first section is devoted to the issues of the general ecology, considered at the organism and population-visual levels. The second section characterizes the structure, evolution and functioning of ecosystems. The third section includes material on applied ecology (features of agricultural and urban ecosystems, industrial technosystems, problems of rational use of natural resources, nature protection, the basics of ecological economy and environmental law). The fourth section contains material on social and global ecology. The first and second sections are supposed to be studied in grade 10, the third and fourth - in the 11th grade.
