The great artist Vasily Kandinsky (1866–1944) was born in Moscow. He graduated with honors from the Faculty of Law of Moscow University, but by the age of 30 he decided to devote life to art. Having moved to Munich, he meets the German expressionists, studies painting at the Academy of Arts. He conducts active teaching and exhibition activities both in Russia and abroad. He affirms himself as the theorist of arts, participating in the work of the Bauhaus school. Having abandoned impressionism in favor of abstraction, the artist over and over again fills his paintings with a colorful consonance of rhythms of spots, points, lines and symbols.
