The manual contains theoretical information on spelling, phonetics, vocabulary and phraseology, word formation, morphology, syntax, speech culture and style.

The rules of the Russian language are set out in detail and are fixed by exercises of various degrees of complexity. Most attention is paid to difficult cases of spelling. Exercises for the repetition of spelling and punctuation are combined with the analysis of linguistic elements and semantic, speech and language analysis of the text.
