The book is devoted to the most important stage in the history of the science of the Universe, which has stretched for approximately three centuries. It began with the creation of a heliocentric model of the universe and ended in the second half of the 19th century, when traditional optical astronomy began to actively master theoretical concepts and experimental technologies of physical sciences. This is the first book in Russian, in which the history of classical astronomy is represented through the detailed biographies of its main creators - from Nikolai Copernicus to the discoverers of Neptune Urben Lever and John Kauch Adams. The biography of each scientist is immersed in the historical and political context of his time and therefore is not limited only to biographical data and analysis of scientific achievements.
The book also contains two information inserts dedicated to the early history of optical telescopes and the state of astronomical science at the line of the XVIII and XIX centuries. The second book of the author, “Astrophysicism in the Persons” (URSS, 2022), in the same way describes the one and a half century history of astrophysics from the 1860s. To our time. The proposed work will be interesting and accessible to all readers who want to trace and understand the historical development of the European astronomy of the New Age, seeing this process through the eyes of the main creators of this great science.
