The clamp got its name for similarity to the jaws of the crocodile. It consists of two curly details with "crocodile" teeth, fastened with the middle with a special pin and capable of turning to a certain angle around the axis of the connection. To one of the parts, the contact wire is mounted. The compression of the "jaws" is provided by a spring inserted on the other side of the pin.
