The collected works of Henry Sapgira are an attempt not only to gather together most of what was written by a wonderful Russian poet and a prose writer of the second half of the 20th century, but also to create some integral image of this unique (even for a given period of our literature) universal writer. He not only wrote with equal pleasure for adults and for children, but also as embodied in the word of the Larion-Goncharovsky concept of “all-hand”: the compounds of all the ideas known before this, manners and techniques of modern writing, simultaneously radically avant-garde and extremely rooted in the most deep national Traditions and leading constant provocative dialogue with her.
In the fourth volume, texts are collected, to one degree or another oriented to traditions and canon: thematic (as in the cycle of “Breeding” or poems), genre (as in the novel “Uncle Volodya” or the books of “Elegy” or “Sonnets on shirts”) and style (in the books “Pink Auto Crane” or “Puff Pie”). The books and cycles of different years, which are included in this volume, suggest reading from the rules, especially brightly rethinking the tradition in children's verses and translations. Appeal to the classics (it doesn’t matter, Russian, European or eastern, as in “verses for the ring”) and the game with it allow you to emphasize the novelty of the poetic word, show the world on the breakup of traditional aesthetics.
