The main action of the novel falls on 80 goals of the last century. In the center of events is 20 summer Alexander Ivanov, who, contrary to his desires, is forced to get to the service of a guide policeman. At the same time, a serial maniac appears in the city, which does not spare neither Poyen nor adults. He, like a shadow, follows nearby, destroying those with whom the main character is in contact.

However, the detective line of the novel is just a background on which other, more human and important events unfold.
