Easter. Getting rid of sorrow. Compiled by Klyuchikova A.V.
In 2016, the 70 years have been performed since the event, which was probably the most important in the history of the Holy Trinity Sergius Lavra of the 20th century. In April 1946, at Easter, a monastic hostel was resumed in the Trinity monastery, Lover of St. Sergius again opened its gates for the pilgrims. This was the first post -war spring, the first peaceful Easter. And to the general joy of the people that the most difficult, most bloody war in the history of mankind ended the victory, the arbitrariness of the Lord increased another joy - the revival of the main Russian shrine, which was more than a century in desolation. From the first day of the Great Patriotic War, the Russian Orthodox Church lived a single life with its people, taking part in protecting the homeland with all the means possible for it. These were not only the messages and appeals of church hierarchs to the flock, imbued with a sense of hot, selfless patriotism, not only prayers and preaching in temples, but also a constant collection of donations - to the production of tanks, aircraft, to help the sick, wounded, disabled, orphans. There was not a single temple throughout the country, not a single parish that would not take part in this. In these serious years, the attitude of the authorities towards the Church has noticeably changed. On the fourth of September 1943, a meeting of the head of the government of I.V. Stalin with the patriarchal locomotor Metropolitan Sergius (Stragorodsky), who was accompanied by Metropolitan of Leningrad Alexy (Simansky) and Metropolitan Nikolai (Yarushevich), took place. At this meeting, an agreement was reached on the convocation of the Bishop Cathedral for the election of the Patriarch and on the opening of spiritual educational institutions. And already on September 8, the Bishop Cathedral of the Russian Orthodox Church was opened in Moscow, on which Metropolitan Sergius (Stragorodsky) was unanimously elected by the Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus'.
