The textbook “Literary reading” for grade 4 completes the line of literary education of younger students and provides the propaedeutics of studying literature in a primary school. The main goal of the course is to familiarize students with the history of the emergence and development of children's literature - from its folklore sources to the present. In the learning process, the circle of children's reading expands; Schoolchildren get acquainted with works of different genres, analyze artistic texts. Particular attention is paid to the motivation for reading aloud and to oneself.
