The Textbook “Geography” for grade 8 continues the subject line of the Polar Star UMK for the main school, developed as part of the system-activity approach. It is written in accordance with the program for this course and takes into account the requirements of the Federal State Educational Standard of Basic General Education. The content of the textbook is aimed at the formation of the geographical image of Russia as a country with a huge territory, various natural conditions and unique natural resources, and distinctive traditions of the peoples that inhabit it. Particular attention is paid to the creation of the geographical image of its native land, the ability to compare it with other subjects of the Russian Federation. New paragraphs included in the textbook are designed to expand students' knowledge about the characteristics of the natural regions of our country, the environmental situation and security, the plant and animal world of Russia, and natural complexes. The main features of the textbook are the presence of activity paragraphs “Learning with a polar star”, a graphically selected system for checking the assimilation of the material and preparing for the final control, self -control and certification, a set of tasks (including test, practical and creative), extensive illustrative and cartographic material, annexes from a dictionary terms and concepts, tables and mini-atlas, supplemented by new cards. The textbook "Geography" for grade 8 is recommended by the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation.
