According to legend, the creation of the novel “Awed to the Wind” began with how Margaret Mitchell wrote the main phrase of the last chapter: “None of the men of the men, Scarlett, could not understand and now - lost both.” The subsequent work on the work lasted about ten years and demanded from the writer a huge dedication and hard work. In an effort to penetrate the very spirit of the era, Mitchell painstakingly studied the history of his native Atlanta, used newspapers and magazines of the mid -19th century. On the pages of her manuscripts, the stories of eyewitnesses of the Civil War and family traditions came to life. Mitchell copied some scenes four to five times, and as for the first chapter, the writer satisfied only the 60th option!
Roman, released in the spring of 1936, had an unprecedented success and immediately broke all the records in popularity and circulations throughout the history of American literature. And the film adaptation of the same name with Vivien Lee and Clark Gabel in the main roles won 10 Oscar awards and became one of the most famous tapes in the history of world cinema.
