Green belt of fame. Agrafenin A., Platonov P.
Green Belt of Glory is a unique memorial complex, the creation of which began in the mid -1960s. On the eve of the 20th anniversary of Victory, the famous poet Mikhail Dudin, a participant in the defense of Leningrad, appealed to land thousands of trees on the fields of past battles. He wanted groves and gardens to bloom on the earth scorched by war - a symbol of the world.
Leningraders and residents of the region responded to this initiative. The green belt of fame stretches 200 kilometers. He repeats the front line, which was held by the defenders of the city for all 872 days of the siege. In places of the most bloody and significant battles, monuments are established.
Their number is also replenished today. On these monuments, as on revitalized pages, you can study the history of the blockade of Leningrad.
