Askold Akishin is a master of the domestic comic book. Starting to draw comics in 1985, Askold draws them now, when many colleagues-nibrates have already "moved away from the pen." Until now, the author prefers to draw traditionally on paper, feather and mascara, so the graphics with its academicity retains liveliness. The topics of the mystery of our world and the frightening unknown of fate for a common person pass the red line through the work of Askold Akishin. Akishin is interesting to the versatility of his stories: from the sergeous complex documentary sketches about the war to almost “stick men” in “Tales of the Future”, from everyday life to folklore, from an autobiography to somnambulic travel and science fiction.
In two impressive volumes, 30 years of drawing comics were compressed. This is the cast of the era, a kind of "time of time." A real cut of an independent Russian comic book from the 1990s to the present day.
