Bernard Form was born in 1948; He received a doctoral degree in 1984 at the University of Paris, after which he was engaged in research at the Japanese Kyotsky University for many years. He publishes his works in French and English on the topics of Chan/Zen, esoteric Buddhism. Currently, he is a professor of Japanese Buddhism at the Columbia University, an honorary professor of Buddological Research of Stanford University. The works are translated into European and Asian languages. Among the most outstanding research can be distinguished: Chan Insights and Oversights: An Epistemological Critique of the Chan Tradition, Princeton University Press (1996).
