Kargopol toy - the folk fishing of the Russian North, which arose in the area of the city of Kargopol, Arkhangelsk region. Peasant potters were adorned with a special painting toys, which were made from clay remnants - the most affordable material. The figures were made in the winter, when there was no work in the field, not for sale, but for the sake of entertainment. Crafts in the form of animals and fairy -tale heroes were given to children, and toys with rural plots were set at fairs to attract attention.
Now such toys use mainly as souvenirs and interior decor.
