“Stoic” is the third, final part of the famous “Desire trilogy” of Theodore Dreizer, which is based on the life story of the American millionaire C. Jerks, who played a significant role in the development of a public transport system in Chicago and the London Metro.

The protagonist - Frank Caucerewood - transfers activities to London, deciding to engage in the construction of the metro lines. The hero, as before, rushes from one fight to another, overcomes serious obstacles, remaining at the top of the financial Olympus until the end of his life.
