The textbook is intended for children with disabilities and implements the requirements of the adapted basic general education program in the subject area "Natural Science" for students with intellectual disorders.

The textbook presents material about most representatives of the animal world. Particular attention is paid to pets: their importance in human life and caring for them. Interesting and cognitive texts for extracurricular reading are given in each section of the textbook. The methodological apparatus emphasizes the development of cognitive abilities of students, questions and tasks stimulate students to independently draw conclusions and generalizations.
