The textbook includes theoretical information about the main areas and forms of development of physical culture in modern society, the mandatory educational material on sports. Particular attention is paid to healing systems of physical culture. The connection of physical culture with the future professional activities of graduates and their service in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation are described. Recommendations are given on the prevention of injuries and first aid in physical education and sports. Information about mandatory tests and trials of the choice of the fourth stage (age group from 16 to 17 years) of the All-Russian physical and sports complex “Ready for Labor and Defense” (STO) (separate for girls and young men) is given. The textbook consists of three sections - “Knowledge of Physical Culture”, “Organization of independent classes of health -improving physical culture”, “Physical improvement”. At the end of the textbook, “terms and concepts used in the textbook” are given that will help students consolidate knowledge about physical culture, correctly learn the educational material of the entire line of textbooks A.P. Matveeva. The textbook is written in accordance with the approximate work program of A.P. Matveev in physical education.
