The textbook is intended for children with disabilities and ensures the implementation of the requirements of the adapted basic general education program in the subject area “Language and speech practice” in accordance with the Federal State Educational Standard of the Education of Students with Intellectual Disorders. In this textbook, work aimed at the formation of the skill of full reading received its further consistent development. One of the tasks of this textbook is to ensure a gradual translation of students from post -reading a smooth reading in whole words. The textbook is organized on the basis of the principle of thematic distribution of material. Each of the sections of the textbook presents works of various genres (fairy tales, stories, poems), united by a common topic. The texts, exercises, questions and tasks proposed in the textbook are selected and compiled taking into account the age and intellectual characteristics of younger mentally retarded schoolchildren. At the end of the second part of the textbook, methodological pages for the teacher are placed.
