The textbook of the “Your Friend of the French language” line for grade 8 is intended for students studying French as a basic foreign language from the calculation of 3 hours a week. A communicative-activity approach to teaching a foreign language, on the basis of which it is created, allows us to comprehensively form students' skills in four main types of speech activity. The textbook provides the achievement of personal, meta -subject and subject results, forms such universal educational actions as the ability to think logically, build a linguistic guess, work with tables, graphs and maps, objectively evaluate their results, etc. The textbook features can be attributed:

• Tasks aimed at developing the independence of thinking, the ability to compare, analyze read or heard.
• sections that teach semantic reading.
• Cognitive materials about Russia and France.
• Differentiated approach to the organization of the educational process.
• Formation of the ability to work with Internet resources.

• The presence of such a component of the UMK as a language portfolio.

The textbook is finalized:

• Tasks for filling out forms and forms are added.
• Updated the addresses of the sites.
• Actualized by the administrative division of continental France.
