Alexander Osipovna Ishimova (1804–1881) - Russian children's writer, translator, teacher. The future historical book “The History of Russia for Children” (1836) was taken “History” by Karamzin, which A. O. Ishimova re -read several times. It is known that the writer worked on her book for six years. Written for children, “History” by A. Ishimova is also interesting to an adult reader: it contains extensive information about the thousand -year history of the Fatherland. For her historical work, the writer received the Honorary Demidov Prize of the Russian Academy of Sciences. In addition to working on the book, A. O. Ishimova taught, translated from English, and also engaged in publishing. From 1841 to 1862, the writer published the children's magazine Star. V. A. Zhukovsky, A. S. Pushkin, N.V. Gogol and other great writers of the writer V. Belinsky so evaluated the work of the writer: “History” by Mrs. Ishimova - an important acquisition for Russian.
