"Success. Three years from the history of one province ” - the first novel of the trilogy“ Waiting Hall ”, first published in 1930. Working on Roman for three previous years, Feihtwanger creates a comprehensive panorama of the life of Bavaria, where in the 20s of the XX century the political force is rapidly gaining influence, which very soon was destined not only to become dominant in Germany, but also dramatically influence the fate of the whole world.
Feihtwanger's fictional process over art forces Martin Kruger, from which the novel begins, becomes a point of no return in him, a demonstration of powerless power against the challenges of modernity, the catalyst for the popularity of the energetic ideology of true patriots and the future success of nationalists with an authoritative leader at the head. Prophetically interpreting the events performing in the political arena of his native Bavaria, like tragic, Feikhtwanger was forced to leave Munich and began to write “success” already in Berlin. With the coming to power of the National Socialists, his books were on the list of burning, and on August 25, 1933 the writer was deprived of German citizenship.
