Reading, as a fundamental skill, cannot be limited only to academic purposes (speed, expressiveness, understanding of content), but should include goals related to everyday life. Indeed, today the main task is to teach students to apply knowledge in everyday life. In a series of working notebooks for grades 1 - 4, a variety of exercises and tasks for the development of functional reading skills are presented. Each notebook is thematic, which will increase interest in work, expand the horizons of the child, reduce the level of anxiety, increase the positive attitude to reading and faith in the success of their actions. Exercises proposed in the notebook can solve several problems, depending on the goals that the teacher or parents will set: diagnostics, monitoring and, of course, the formation of the skill. The proposed tasks are developed taking into account the age -related features of the development of students, the main methodological approaches in learning.

This manual will be interesting and useful to students. The use of the proposed materials can contribute to the development of pedagogical reflection, adjusting the skills of teachers to make changes to the educational technologies used, apply new approaches in the teaching methodology, which will generally increase the quality of training and training of primary schoolchildren.
