This publication presents five books of the treatise “On the teachings of Hippocrates and Plato”-the outstanding Roman doctor and philosopher of the 2nd-III centuries, the creator of the theoretical and practical system, which became the basis for the development of medicine and natural science as a whole until the scientific revolutions of the XVII-XVII- XIX centuries. These works are a valuable source of information on the history of medicine of the proto -scientific period. The published translations are equipped with an extensive introductory article, notes and bibliography, in which, from the standpoint of interdisciplinary analysis, the main ideas of Galen are versed. The methodology proposed in the publication allows us to show the mutual influence of natural philosophy and medicine. The composition is a characteristic example of the connection of the general theoretical, natural philosophical views of Galen and his practical activity as a doctor. The published work is a demonstration of the excellent ownership of the empirical method and skills of synthetic thinking, built on the principles of rational medicine. All this allows you to comprehensively comprehend the historical significance of the works of Galen.
The third volume continues a series of publications, the work on which is carried out by employees of the Department of History of Medicine, the History of the Fatherland and Cultural Studies of FSBEI in the First Moscow State Medical University. THEM. Sechenov of the Ministry of Health of Russia. The introductory article to that Galnna was implemented as part of the RNF project No. 15-18-30005 "Aristotle's legacy as a constituting element of European rationality in a historical perspective." Translations were supported by the NBO “Fund for the Development of New Medical Technologies”.
The book is intended for scientists involved in the problems of history and philosophy of natural science.
