The History of Spain is an outstanding monument of medieval historiography, one of the first Western European chronicles written in spoken (medieval Castilian) language. The History of Spain was compiled under the leadership of the King of Castile and Leon Alfonso X the Wise (1252-1284) and covers the period from the settlement of Spain with the legendary Hercules to the death of King Fernando III Holy (1217-1252), the father of the wise king. The second volume included chapters 308-801, telling about the events of the IV-early XI century, from the spread of Christianity during the time of Constantine the Great (306-337) to the end of the reign of King Leon Bernemudo III (1028-1037).
The book is addressed to medical scientists, specialists in the history and culture of Spain, students and all those interested in the history of the Western European Middle Ages.
